  • We set out the timetable for the day and the Faculty introduce themselves.

• Application Procedures.

  • How to apply, and how to maximise your chances of acceptance. What selection committees want to read on your UCAS form.

• Where to Study.

  • Campus or City University? / Reputations - are they deserved and do they matter? / Differences between the different Law courses / How to make an informed choice where to go.

• The Interview.

  • This presentation is given by solicitors with substantial experience of selecting and interviewing potential Law students.  We suggest what you might expect, how to conduct yourself and how to impress.

• The Law Course Curriculum & Life at University.

  • What is on the course and how is it taught?  How does the curriculum vary between the different Schools of Law?  Plus, all about accommodation, social life, money and the other questions you have never dared to ask the careers advisor!

• Legal careers.

  • The diversity of careers available, from Barrister to Solicitor.  This lecture also covers pay and other practical aspects of the Law career.

• Legal and ethical dilemmas:

  • The PreLaw Solicitors and Barristers discuss topical legal cases, with lots of help from the audience.

• The cross examination.

  • 2 of the PreLaw Barristers re-enact a true to life in-court cross examination.

• Life as a Lawyer.

  • The PreLaw Solicitors and Barristers describe what they actually do on a day to day basis.

• The negotiation!

  • Course attendees get to try their hand at negotiating the terms of a contract.  Based on a real life example, can you get the best terms for your client?  The opposing team's Lawyers will try to ensure you don't!
